Graffiti I

Graffiti I - 1

Glasgow’s history of street art and murals dates back to the 1970s, when people started to paint socialist influenced murals on the gable ends of houses. Since then, the graffiti and street art scene has grown, particularly during the 1980s when the city was known for its punk and new wave music scene. There are now many graffiti trails and walks around the city, and I captured a selection of the works in the streets surrounding Byres Road when I visited in November 2024.

For more information surrounding Glasgow’s murals, check out the City Center Mural trail.
